Hello and welcome. I would like to thank you for looking in on what I am doing.

My name is Pete, I am 56 years old and I live in Hampshire in UK with my partner Mary and our two dogs. Yeah, I know, not the usual profile for a weight loss expert. But then, I am no expert. I’m just a guy who stumbled across something that worked for me and got me interested. Then I got to thinking maybe I could pass on what I have learnt, and so here we are.

So why would a guy my age (I’m 56) be blogging about feeling great and losing weight?

Well, about 7 years ago I went to a party where I got chatting with an old friend. I couldn’t help noticing how good she looked and told her so. She seemed to be overflowing with energy which made me feel pretty bad as she was several years older than I was. In fact I felt positively unhealthy and sluggish next to her!

She told me her secret was all about the food she ate, her attitude to life and the fact that she makes sure she gets regular exercise (and no, she doesn’t go to a gym every day!)

I went home feeling somewhat humbled by this experience, but intrigued by what I had heard. If it worked for her, would it work for me? I certainly needed to lose a few pounds and had little or no energy.

Next morning there was a knock on my front door. It was my old friend again, this time with a book in her hand. She gave me the book and told me it would tell me everything I needed to know if I really wanted to lose that weight and start feeling good. I read it from cover to cover that very day, and the following day I started to put into practice some of the things I had learnt.

I started to lose weight immediately, and within a couple of months I had lost 14 pounds! Not only that but I felt more energetic, I looked much healthier than I had in a long,long time. My skin was better, my hair looked healthier; in short I was like a new person. I went on to lose even more weight until I was down to where I wanted to be at twelve and a half stone.

Once I had lost that weight, my body seemed to know when it had reached the right weight for me (I am six feet tall) and I stayed like that for about a year.

I am not going to dwell on what happened next. Suffice to say I hit a long spell of personal problems and I became depressed and turned to comfort eating. So you can guess what happened. All the weight I had lost went back on with added interest!

Happily I am now over that dark period of my life and I am glad to be alive again. One of the things that is helping me to finish putting my life back together is the re-discovery of that book and what it was all about.

I only started getting back into it a few weeks ago, and already I have lost 8 pounds! Not only that, I feel fantastic and I have so much more energy!
